Supplements are an excellent eCommerce product to sell. Simply because:

  • They are profitable,
  • They are re-filled every month.
  • In the US, there are quality manufacturers.
  • You can have your brand of supplements and not resell what is readily available in the market.

Now that I’ve given you all the right reasons to start-up, let’s talk about the process itself.

Identify products that are in demand.

Before you think of branding your products, I feel like knowing your audience might help the process. Look at all the varieties of supplements in the market and see what you want. Determine this by how much the product sells.

You can do keyword research on Google or look at top-selling products on amazon. Doing this will give you a clear picture.

Know your market and strive to fulfil their needs with your product

Your market could be; people who want to lose weight, people who want to sleep better etc. research where this audience acquires information about these products and where they purchase their products regularly.

Know what problems your target is experiencing and make sure your product eliminates that problem; for example, athletes could be suffering from joint pain. Don’t solve problems that are too expensive. That will be a rough place for a new business.

Decide on your customer acquisition method.

Choose a method that you can work with best. There are different ways you can sell these products like; blogging, direct sales, starting your website, etc.

Analyze the profit margin that you’ll make through each method, then go with the one you’re most comfortable with and is sustainable. Keep realistic expectations too, because a new business will take a bit of time to grow.

Study your competitor

Studying your competitor will help you know where they are lacking and strive to fill those needs. The best way to know this is by looking at online reviews. Make sure to study their failures and avoid them as best as you can.

Knowing your competitor will help you come up with the best price to sell your products, fulfil the needs of a neglected group of people, and avoid an unpopular ingredient in the supplements.

Creating the supplements

At this step, you’ll have to decide whether you’ll resell an existing supplement, or create your brand.

Benefits of reselling are;

  • Capitalizing on existing brand
  • Cheap investments
  • Pre-existing sales
  • There is no need for promotions.
  • Most people looking to start selling online are mostly looking to sell their brands.

Benefits of having your brand are;

  • You can resell it someday when it’s bigger.
  • Large profit margins
  • Total control on how to sell these products

How to choose a manufacturer

  • How fast they can produce and get the products to you
  • Minimum order quantity. Most manufacturers specify the number of products you can order. You’ll have to choose your manufacturer with what you can afford.
  • License and insurance. Make sure your manufacturers are certified by the FDA and Good Manufacturing Practices.

Branding your supplements

Create your logo, which can be very cheap or expensive depending on your kind of interest and the amount of money you’re willing to spend.

Also, find a suiting domain name for your business. Choose a memorable domain name. You can find online guides on naming a business or even be specific and use a supplements name generator.

Ensure you have personalized packaging, labels, and inserts to help put your business from the rest.

Establish the product’s legality

When you choose your company to either be a corporation or a limited liability company, you can’t be liable when your company-issued. Have a business attorney in place to ensure all the legal sides of the business are covered.

Sale

Now that you have all the above steps covered start selling your products. Use all your media platforms and marketing strategies that you had put in place for the company.
